Dolly Rebecca Parton
Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on the
19th of January, 1946, in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was born to Avie Lee
Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton is a housewife and Parton
is a farmer of tobacco. At the age of 12 she was already appearing on Knoxville
TV. At 13 she was already recording for a small record label and performing at
the Grand Ole Opry. She graduated from high school in 1964 and relocated to
Nashville for her country music journey. Carl Dean, a asphalt-paving company owner
was her first lover. They were married on May 30, 1966. Porter Wagoner saw her
singing and hired her to appear on The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She was a
part of The Porter Wagoner Show for seven years. The duets they performed
became famous and she was invited to join him on the Grand Ole Opry. Her smash
hit "Joshua" was released at the top spot in 1970 was her biggest hit
single. She chose to go on her own and remained with the group, even though she
recorded duets with the singer. In 1974, she walked away from her husband to
pursue a solo artist. Dolly was a hugely loved performer and songwriter. Dolly
was awarded numerous Country Music Association awards (1968 1970, 1970 and
1971, 1975, 1976). She was a diminutive (5'0") beauty who was an ideal choice
for television. The mid-1970s saw Dolly appeared on a variety of Talk-shows and
television specials, before being given her own show Dolly (1976). In 1977,
Dolly got her first Grammy award: Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her
track "Here You Come Again." Dolly made her film debut in the film 9
to 5, the year 1980. She was nominated for an Oscar for the title track along
with Grammy Awards 2/3: Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal
Performance. Further fame was earned through her appearances in The Best Little
Whorehouse in Texas (1982), as well as Rhinestone (1984) in which she sang the
hit song "Tennessee Homesick Blues". She is the head of Dolly Parton
Enterprises, a $100 million media empire and in 1986 she founded Dollywood the
theme park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which is a tribute to her
Smoky-Mountain roots. She starred as herself on Dolly, the Dolly (1987) TV
show. In 1988, she won another Grammy: Best Country Performance Duo or Group
with Vocals, for "Trio".
