Allyson Felix
Allyson Michael Felix is a Los Angeles native born on November 18th, 1985. Felix's father Paul Felix is an ordained minister of the Master's Seminary, Sun Valley. Her mother Marlean Felix is a teacher at Balboa Magnet Primary School. Felix was an athlete of the highest level and discovered her love for sprinting in the sprints at Los Angeles Baptist High School. Within 10 weeks of her initial tryout, she placed in second place in the 200-meter race at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix agreed to sign a contract with Adidas for a professional career with Adidas in 2003, and then enrolled at University of Southern California to learn about elementary education. One year later Felix was awarded her very first Olympic medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens Greece breaking the world junior record sprinting 200 meters in 22.18 seconds. The 2005 Helsinki World Championships saw her become the youngest woman to be crowned the winner of the 200-meter race. In 2007 she defended the title by beating her Jamaican opponent Veronica Campbell. Felix was a regular competitor at Beijing, London Rio de Janeiro, as well as Tokyo. She consistently placed within the top three places of every event.
